The vehicle fire erupted on I-287 South just south of Exit 2 at around 9:35 a.m., the state Department of Transportation said.
All lanes and the right shoulder were closed as emergency crews responded to the scene. Drivers in the area should expect delays of 10 to 15 minutes and consider alternate routes if possible.
Officials are working to clear the scene and reopen lanes as quickly as possible. No injuries have been reported at this time.
